Hi.
I'm curious to know, how did you obtained konqueror 3.4.91. You said in:
http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/emails/TorstenRahn.html
... "Each test is done with a default browser install, without tweaking
any settings", but you forgot to mention, that this version of konqueror, is a
pre-release. That means that the build is configured with debugging symbols,
but the final version will not (indeed, it isn't right now, because KDE 3.5
is released).
So, you just compiled arts+kdelibs+kdebase with "./configure && make"?
If you did that way, be aware that right now, the build will not add debugging
symbols, so the results will be pretty different, especially for cold start.
Greetings.

Quoted from my reply:
On SuSE, the normal way to install things is using YaST, and installing
the relevant packages, so that is what I did - using the packages available
from KDE.org, built for my version of SuSE.
This uses KDE's own settings, and I hope they can choose the most
appropriate options. Otherwise all their (normal) users will suffer. This is
the most appropriate way to test, in my opinion.
I use the normal installation techniques for my distro. Since I use SuSE on
my test machine, that means I do not compile anything if there is an RPM
package available. (On my Debian install, I use debian packages. If I used
Gentoo, I would compile, since that is normal for Gentoo.)
In this case, there were RPM packages for SuSE, and they were provided by
KDE.org. That is what I used for the test.

Ah, OK, sorry. I forgot that SuSE provided binary packages, so I thought you
compiled from source.
Thanks for the reply.
Greetings.
