I found this article about a year ago when I was just getting into
JavaScript. The example you give at the beginning is exactly what I was
after and it was really great to get insight on all 3 different solutions.
To top it off I really find your explanation of closures simpler than any
other I have read it made it really easy for me to get started with them. On
a final note one of the developers I have been working with is adding custom
attributes to elements to get around this issue as you describe in your
second solution. I am going to pass on your article and hopefully he will
find as much success with it as I have.
