Hi, i just wanted to know if firefox is a much better browser than explorer
in terms of speed i've seen the graphs you have made comparing most of the
well-known browsers in the internet, however im more interested between the
2, speed in particular. could you say that IE is faster than firefox in
terms of the startup time? i mean would a 4 or 5 seconds gap between the two
a big deal?
Opera has been doin very well in terms of speed. is speed a really big
issue in web browsers?

  hope you could help me
looking forward for you reply tnx

On my computer, no. IE is faster. Firefox has progressive rendering which
may make some pages appear faster since you can start reading the top while
the bottom is still being laid out. But overall, IE is faster.

What browser you choose to use is entirely up to you, and up to what is
important to you. Speed is an important factor (after all, using a browser
where you keep waiting for it to catch up with what you are thinking about,
is quite frustrating), but it is not the only one. Speed, standards,
security, and integrated features are important to me. So I choose Opera, as
it provides all of those.

IE only provides one benefit over Firefox, and that is speed. (It also works
with a few more Web sites that are written only to work in IE, but I do not
see that as a benefit so much as encouraging bad authoring.)

Choosing to use a browser like Opera or Firefox has to be done for more
reasons than just performance. Standards is a big point, and they both do
very well at that, with each of them having its own strengths - IE on the
other hand is several years behind, and causes problems for Web developers
as a result. Security is another, with IE having a very bad reputation, and
Opera having one of the best. When it comes to features, IE has almost none.
Opera comes with loads of integrated features. Firefox starts off with very
few, but you can extend it to add more. It is a matter of taste.

I will not make your decision for you. You should use what suits you. If
speed is not important to you, then make a choice based on whatever other
factors are important.
