I downloaded your RSS parser example from this page:
http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/tutorials/jsexamples/rss.html
All three files in the archive contain a mixture of DOS and UNIX line
break formats! I don't know quite now you managed that, but it tends to
confuse editors. I'm using BBEdit, which handles all 3 line break
formats, but it's certainly not happy with multiple formats in one
file. It's quite apparent if you do a hex dump of the source files.
It's easily fixed with a search and replace, but I figured it would be
best to fix it at source.
Thanks for the scripts BTW, very nice - I've been looking for an
example like this one, but supporting browsers other than IE:

Marcus,
Yeah, this sort of irritation happens regularly. I keep seeing it in my
JavaScript files. My text editor on Windows accepts either type of
linebreak, but will always inset a DOS linebreak if it sees another DOS
linebreak in the file. I also sometimes edit the files under Linux, and the
editor I use there is the same but will always insert UNIX linebreaks. If I
edit the same file on both operating systems, I will get this problem.
Since neither of them give any indication that something odd has happened,
I usually don't notice.
Cheers for the heads-up, I will fix this when I get a chance to talk to my
server again.
