SubjectThe History test in browser speed comparisons

Hi

To ease the measurement you go back 25 times in the history test, but
this is a problem for some browsers like gecko 1.8 based ones. My
experience is that the first three time back goes fast while the
following are slower.

I find it more interesting how fast the browser is when going back one
to three times as this is, i guess the normal user behavior.

The fast-back feature in FF is limited to only a few pages. That is their
limitation.

I would disagree quite strongly there. I certainly use more than three, most
of the people I see using browsers - and I do not mean just geeks ;) - tend
to go back much more than just three. This is often done while searching on
the Web. You use a search engine, find a site you think has the answer, scan
through the site for a while, realise it is useless, and go back to the
search page, which may (by now) be buried many pages back in your history.

Indeed, users will each have their own way to use a browser, but in the
respect of history, the Gecko browsers seem to think that all users should
behave the same, and should not build a big history if they want a fast
response. In my experience, users do not all behave that way, and to the
users who do not, the history navigation is slow, which is reflected in the
results I got.
