SubjectRSS Parser - Default Files Not Showing Like on Your Site
Date5 September 2008 14:04
Hello,

I'm probably missing something small here, but I installed your rss parser
files and it is not functioning like your example. I'm hoping you can help.

I have hosting with GoDaddy and can run php with no problems.

Here is where I installed the files:
[URL]

I'm trying to make a page that displays a [brand] feed
([URL]) without the form.
Here is the link where I'm trying this:
[URL]

I've read your emails regarding this and have taken the steps, but it looks
like something small is causing the script to not function properly. If I
insert the [brand] feed address in your example, it displays with no
problems.

ANY help would be GREATLY appreciated!!!

(so much for "really simple" huh?)

Ryan,

The JS is working perfectly, and the PHP is working perfectly, but my
PHP script is trying to give you an error message.

Except it seems that your host's server is not able to retrieve the RSS
file. This could mean that:

1. Your host has blocked PHP from retrieving remote content.

2. The owner of the RSS feed has prevented your host from retrieving
content from it - it could be that someone else hosted with your host
has been abusing the target site, so they have blocked all connections
from your host.

3. Your host may be having DNS problems, and is unable to lookup the
hostname that you are trying to retrieve the RSS from.

4. There could be a connection problem between your host, and the host
of the RSS feed, that prevents your host from retrieving it.

I can see that it also fails if you try to retrieve other RSS feeds, so
options 2, 3, and 4 seem unlikely (unless your host is having major
routing problems, but since I can connect to it, that is also unlikely).
Which leaves only option 1.

Unfortunately, since all of my stuff is working as intended, I cannot
investigate this matter further. Hopefully your host can tell you why
PHP is unable to retrieve remote content.
