Hi,
Please, excuse me for my poor email, I'm not fluent with English.
I would like to understand something about acid2 test and this page:
http://www.howtocreate.co.uk/acid/
You say: "2. The test may not pass if you make your minimum font size
too big, or if you zoom, etc. The test itself is intentionally
designed to only work assuming a 'normal' setup, so this is expected
behaviour. Complain to the authors if you do not like it:)
4. Resizing the window may cause text at the top to wrap, and scroll
the page a little, so you will need to click the link again - see note
2."
If I understand well, we don't care about what the smiley becomes if
we scroll the page, OK? Therefore, why the guide (
http://www.webstandards.org/action/acid2/guide/ ) precises "If the
Acid2 page is scrolled, the scalp will stay fixed in place, becoming
unstuck from the rest of the face, which will scroll."? There is a
contradiction! On the one hand the browser passes the test if it
renders correctly when displaying the page the first time. On the
other hand, passing the test implies scrolling to see if the scalp
stay fixed?! In the 2 option, what about the second rectangle (with
red at the bottom) which stay fixed too and which appears in all
current browser? This behaviour is not documented (however, from a
pure CSS point of view it is normal as explained here: [URL])
So, what is the conclusion?
I'm looking forward to your reply.
Thanks a lot,
Thomas

Thomas,

Correct.

They are trying to tell you "if you scroll the page manually, the test is
invalid, so don't scroll the page and expect it to pass". They are just not
very clear about what they mean. You don't have to scroll the page manually
in order for it to pass. The test scrolls itself the perfect amount when you
click the link at the top of the page.

That's just there to test layering of the <object> and the fixed element. If
the browser gets it wrong, that second rectangle will appear on top of the
eyes. There are several little hidden things like that which are not
mentioned in the guide, which are designed to find possible bugs in
browsers.

OK, it's clear now.
Thanks for your reply.
