Simulating a starfield

This actually models the stars as points in 3D space, moving towards you. The screen shows 90 degrees of view, and will show any stars in that view. Any stars that fall out of view are re-cycled back into new stars. By using clipping and changing the size of the div elements that the stars are made of, they can change size in old Opera 6- releases as well. It is designed to take scrolling and resizing into account.

Because this script changes position, clip, height and width of 30 positioned elements, this script is fairly processor intensive, and can be a bit slow in some browsers.

None the less, it runs fast enough in all major browsers (old Gecko based browsers will be a bit slower than the others).

To download the script(s), see the script license, and check details like browser compatibility, use the links on the navigation panel at the top of this page.
